My crapy morning
Feb. 23rd, 2005 12:34 pmthere is this weird buzzing noise - I hit the snooze on my alarm and it still won't stop - I wonder why the baby monitor is making such a strange noise - then I wonder why the noise is coming from my purse since my cell phone is not set to that ringtone - then I realize that it is my pager (duh! I'm on call this week)
I call into the computer room and then I guess it is about 4:30 am. They had to abort all jobs on the LWI account because the database was corrupt. They fixed the database and need to know where to restart a job I'm responsible for.
I then attempt to logon to work, I can't get it to work, brain is still not functional at a higher-level, call operations back tell them I'm having problems with my VPN connection, they wake someone from the help desk and call me back and conference us all in on the call. Was using my network server password when prompted for my VPN password (duh!) still not awake. So help desk person had to reset my VPN password since I'd errored out.
Finally get my VPN connection to function but then my server connection isn't working. Try the PA server - it fails, try the NJ server and it hangs for what seems like an eternity (probably about 10-15 minutes) and it finally lets me logon but I can't get to the software I need, try logging back on to the PA server and it also hangs for an eternity (10 or 15 minutes), finally get on, finally logon on to the system I need to get to, and spend less than 5 minutes fixing the problem. However, spent over an hour trying to get logged on....
Can the day get worse??
