Dark Twin RIP 2/13/2025

dreamaastridDidn't realize I never posted this here only on facebook. But Dark Twin died back in February, she was diagnosed with severe kidney disease. She was such a sweet cat and the last month or two that we had her she was venturing out of the master bedroom into the rest of the house and Bean had started to tolerate her being around. But she got sick and went downhill rapidly. So we are back to being a one cat household.

This is the hubby's post from Valentine's Day (2/14/2025), "This past week has not been good for our old kitty we inherited from dad when he died a year ago. She was doing fine until last weekend, then she stopped eating. Completely. Barely touched her water. Just curled up in her box to sleep, and that was that. She wasn't doing well Tuesday night, so I got her out of her box and let her sleep on the bed on a towel. She seemed to be having a hard time breathing. But she slept, and so did I.
Last night she still hadn't eaten, and was taking a turn for the worse, so off to the emergency vet @ 10 pm we went. Some bloodwork and an x-ray later: kidney failure that's been there for a long time, but hasn't really been a problem until now, and a completely impacted bowel. $2k-$3k for surgery to fix bowel, which will most likely be a recurring thing due to kidney failure, and therefore not enough fluid in the cat to keep things "moving along". Over the past nine months she has completely refused to gain weight. We fed her three meals a day, left dry out for grazing, and you could still feel every single bone in her tiny body every time you pet her.
So we discussed things for a few, and decided kitty has had a wonderful pampered last year with us, but since we brought her home last May (May 2024) at 14 years old, we have always known she was only here for kitty hospice, and it ended last night. So we are back down to one cat, Miss Bean, who took my spot in bed this morning the second I left it."
