Itemized Deductions (tax lesson)
Feb. 22nd, 2005 04:47 pmDon't know if any other states had a SUI EE tax last year. But PA had a State Unemployment Insurance tax last year (didn't the year before), and I just found out that this can be used as an itemized "Taxes You Paid" deduction (line 8 schedule A). Hey it drops us one tax bracket if we can deduct it.
However, the local/city occupation tax that a co-worker thought he could deduct as a itemized tax deduction you can only deduct as an "Other Miscellaneous" deduction (line 22 schedule A). Which means that all your miscellaneous deductions must be greater than 2% of your income and you can only deduct the portion greater than 2%.
