Layoffs at my Work

dreamaastridMy boss just came and told me that 12 people in my building were being made redundant. Luckily I was NOT one of them. However, one of my teammates (on the Warehouse team) was not so lucky.
I went by myself to lunch at the little pub next door to work, even had chocolate cake for dessert, but I'm still a bit depressed. I really hate when this stuff happens. Also now I am the last programmer/analyst hired in my department (been here almost 4 years), so if there is another bout of layoffs, it could be me next time.
One of my best friends was laid off from her IT job last fall, took her like 6 months to get another job, and then one that made about 1/2 what she was making before.
Just feeling melancholy and worrying about things I have no control over,
