MS Fantasy Ball
Aug. 9th, 2004 10:22 amwas so much fun. Dave and I had a blast. And I was so pleasantly surprised, thrilled and delighted that I won the costume contest award. The free 8*10 is on my desk at work, and I donated back the $$ by buying more raffle tickets.
A big thank you for anyone that voted for me - that was quite an honor for me. I worked very hard on assembling our costumes and just one admiring comment or flattering remark made me feel really special, but all that attention was unbelievable. Just glad I had a mask on because I'm sure I was as red as my hair (since I blush so well). I think I'll be on cloud nine most this week. I already emailed the lady that made my outfit and let her know the news.
And Dave and I also won two raffle items: the Child's Fairy Wings, and the Autographed Baltimore Raven baseball cap. Baby M will look so cute in Fairy Wings in another season or two when she grows into them. And my dad will get the ballcap, since last minute our babysitter bailed and my parents came through and watched the kid for the evening.
For anyone that asked - the lady that made my dress, hat and parasol is "Christine Hall" who is located in Washington State and her website is: http://members.ebay.com/ws2/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=christinehall She specializes in Civil War and Victorian gowns. My reticule (drawstring purse) I got from: http://www.westernersoutfitter.com Dave got his cutaway "morning" coat ensemble from Tuxedo House in Timonium, MD and got his top hat from: www.hatsinthebelfry.com
Last week I was just doing the stress out - finish sewing Dave's vest, gotta find gloves spazz thing... Amazing what a difference a week makes.

From the post Joy made to the wenches board the event netted over $4,500.00 for Multiple Sclerosis. I believe they are planning on this becoming an annual event. And I do so hope we get to go again next year. And any one that didn't make it this year, please try to make it next year.
The costumes were great. I especially liked Cordelya's white gown, Cyd & Joe's outfits, Batman and Batgirl, the leafy nymph (fairy, sprite), Just Lori's mask, the Red Devil girl and the Zoot Suit Piano Player. But so many of the outfits were truly wonderful - Victorian, Edwardian, Roman, Elizabethan, Renaissance, Civil War, Cartoon characters, kilts, Fairies, Pirates, belly dancers, etc. Just way too much fun.
My only complaint is that the evening was way too short - not nearly enough time to see and do everything.
