Memorial Day Weekend
Jun. 1st, 2004 10:28 amWay too much fun!
Friday night - hubby's best friend and wife (Dell & Lena) and child came over to visit. Their daughter is only 6 months younger than ours so it is really fun to hang out with them. Another couple (friend of the hubby and gf) also came along. Only wish that Dell & Lena lived closer not FL... Will miss them until we get to go down and visit.
Sat - Medieval Times for dinner. Good show though a bit on the expensive side. And we actually had a "real" injury at the show we attended. Our knight, the yellow knight, got hit in the face with live steel. Of course us Rennies were the ones to notice. He got stabbed in the side (acting) and was holding his face (not good), he didn't come back out for the everyone bow and take credit, nor for the autograph signing. So we are wondering how bad it was and how many stitches he needed - so it was a rather exciting show - but not good for the performer.
We also got to visit with some faire friends, was a group of 15 or so of us. Haven't seen them in months and it was nice just to hang out for a while sans child - grandparents were babysitting. And did I mention - our daughter said "Nana" for the first time so the grandmother was estatic.
Sunday - Attended a friend's son's "Baby dedication". Her youngest child - out of three. Her middle child, daughter, is the same age as our daughter (one week apart), but is so much taller. She is tall for her age, and ours is very petite. They got to play together and there were at least 3 other little kids there - so they were running all over the place having a ball.
It was so nice to see everyone - friends from faire avec children. Even got to hold a teeny tiny baby - less than a month old - yeah! Hard to remember mine being so small. And my daughter got to tell people "What sound does a dragon make?" and she would do her little baby roar.. and make people smile.
Sun cont. - hubby's day at the colonial forge. He does his living history museum colonial blacksmithing gig - he was working on a blade from a file - cool stuff! I spent most the day chasing my daughter all over the place, since she wanted in and out of the buildings, up and down the door sills, in and out of the lean-to, and she even learned how to climb into a chair, and how to fall out of it as well. Caught her by her ankle before she hit the ground and she giggled - NO FEAR! I finally had to put her in her stroller for a while for mom to sit down and get a break.
Monday - Family picnic at my cousin's house. Ended up being indoors because of the rain. Little one was a complete ham. Hugging people, running around with her hat on and an even bigger smile. And when they asked her "Do you know how cute you are?" she said "Yep" and nodded. And she got to play with her cousins, eat a chocolate chip cookie, and try a sit and spin, and play with lincoln logs, and play with trucks and trains and wooden elephants, etc. etc.
Did I mention a day off to recover from the weekend might be nice?
