Doctor doesn't know if it is a stomach virus or possible food poisoning (we ate at Bahama Breeze in Towson on Sunday). Haven't kept anything in me since Monday. Been so sick - vomiting and diarrhea - and sleeping 12 to 14 hrs a day.

Good news is that - I finally got the vomiting to stop today, but the reason I'm up at this hour posting is my guts are churning. It is this gurgle gurgle gurgle glug glug noise with random stabbing pains followed by running to the bathroom every 15 minutes. Please make it stop!!! it is not fun.

I'm alive but miserable. This past month has really sucked - pink eye, sinus infection, horrible cold, possible strep, yeast infection (from the antibiotics they gave me to cure everything else) and now this awful thing going on in my guts. Three weeks of misery so far..

The only good thing about all this - the weight I've lost... but I so don't want to end up dehydrated in the hospital. So back to more chicken broth, ginger ale, pedialyte (yucky stuff)...

whine, moan, whine, moan...

Tepid ginger tea might also be helpful. Take a piece of fresh ginger and grate some of it. Cook it in 4 cups of water for about 15 minutes, then let it cool. You can drink it straight, but if it is too strong, cut it by half with fresh (room temperature) water. The ginger will tame the queasies and the water will keep you from dehydration.

Activated charcoal capsules are great for food poisoning. It absorbs the toxins in the gut. It will turn your stool black after a day or two, so don't be alarmed. At least you get the vomiting to stop and kill the bugs that are making you sick.

I would hesitate eating any foods because that just feeds the organism. Only drink fluids, which you are doing. Wait a couple days to eat (as long as you can stand). Then the bug should be dead and out of your system.

Peppermint oil is great for the headache that accompanies food poisoning. Plus, it quelches the nausea that comes with it.

I got food poisoning at a family conference at Disney several years ago. Not fun. Plus, I'd given out most of my charcoal to others who had gotten ill before me. So, I took what I had and suffered through. Had to stay in bed for a couple days in sunny Orlando. Bummer! I hope you get better soon! Have that man of yours take good care of you!! Hugs!

back at work today and still a little afraid of solid foods. Staying clear of dairy for another few days, but did manage solids Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday had a bagel, a sandwich and some beef. So besides chicken soup and bread that is all I've had since last Monday.
