BabyM started in the one-year old room today. She cried when I dropped her off - and normally didn't when I dropped her off in the infant room.

Visited at lunch time and she was doing great, playing, reading books, painting, etc. But she cried again when I left.

I know she'll do fine, but it is strange seeing her move up with the "big girls"

Ya know, if probably isn't the move to the big kids room that's causing the crying...it just happens around this time that some kids get separation anxiety, even if they've never had it before. Keep on with what you're doing: a cheerful goodbye, and a happy here I am again does a lot to teach them about partings and returns.
The worst thing I ever saw a parent do, is bring the kid kicking and screaming to the sitters (this was at church, when we did sitting rotations with our kids) and then sneak away when they got busy and distracted: it set the kids up to always be wondering if/when Mom and Dad were going to disappear: they got more and more clingy. Just because the parents didn't want to endure the kids crying when they left.

She did much better today when I said goodbye - just a little whine and then she seemed fine.
