Okay we have demonic cats - that at least once a week decide to torture us so we can't sleep at say sometime between midnight or 2am (and yes last night was one of those nights). They come out from under the bed, and go and beat on the door (cat owners - you know the annoying door rattle) and you can't sleep through this.

We throw a pillow at them or try to catch them to beat them - before they dart back under the bed, trying to catch them a 1/2 dozen times until we're insane and 20 minutes or so has gone by. Then being totally fed up and now completely awake - you both get out of bed - and one of you chases the offending monster out from under the bed while one of you catches him - put his face to the door that he was beating on and impress upon him not to do that anymore.

Any way to solve this completely? - other than locking them in a crate at night when they do this - like in the basement or someplace we can't hear them.

Demon cats won't live long if they keep this up...

Spray bottle full of water. Unless your cats are truly demonic, they will hate water. I can't imagine anything that will send them diving for cover back under your bed faster. My cat stops doing whatever when I even pick the bottle up. He's not bright, but he's bright enough for that.

They just close their eyes and scrunch up their faces, wait until we are done spraying and go right back to what they were doing.

The only way water works, is picking them up, putting their head under the faucet and turning it on full blast. Hmmm - maybe a super soaker?

ornery little b##tards...

They are demonic! :) Is the issue that you want to keep them in the bedroom, or just that you want to keep the door closed? If it's the latter, they make a cute thing called a Cat Hole. It's an oversized mousehole for your cat. Too small for Magali, but cats can get in and out without you opening the door. If you want them to stay in the bedroom, that's tougher. Is there anything they really hate? Can you trigger a 'trap' at the door? Like a bucket full of small bean bags? I don't know, I'm obviously reaching here. :) I've heard that cats hate sticky tape; maybe cover a piece of cardboard with strips of double-sided tape and attach it to the bottom of the door.

Or you could just recognize that cats are destined to take over the world and just give them the house. ;)

Keep them in. We don't let them have the run of the house unless we are watching their every move. They get into too much and demolish and destroy.

So far sticky tape sounds like a good idea - the other idea we are thinking of is getting the zap pads (electric pads that zap them - since I don't think they have kitty tazers - don't know how much pain they 'cause - Moohaha..cow laughing) and putting them in front of the door.

And if the zap pads work - maybe covering the house with them to inflict pain on the monsters. (sorry just imagining them writhing in pain (he he) - joking so NOT serious)

I just want good kitties. And when they are being snuggly they are good kitties.

We have a super-soaker, hon. Doesn't always work either. However, one way we avoided Max pulling up carpet was by tacking a vinyl sheet to the floor, they hate the texture.

Tinfoil has actually been said to deter cats before. I know it may not look good, but have you tried tinfoiling the bottom half of the door as a deterrent? Supposedly after a few weeks you can remove it and they won't go there anymore.
